Problem:"Dial up Networking could not negotiate a set of network protocols you specified in the server type settings"

What did I do wrong?

(i) Problem could be with user account details such as password or username. Go to step 1 OR (ii) Dial-up adapter could be corrupted: Call NCS on 521694/5 (24hr support )
For (i)

Troubleshooting
1. Cancel connection on NCS dialog box 2. Double click on "My computer" icon on desktop 3. Double click on "Dialup networking" icon

Right click NCS dialer icon

Click properties

A dialog box appears with the ff tabs - General, Server Type, Scripting and multilink

Click Scripting tab

Is a script file located in the script file path?

If yes,
Delete the script file from the file path
Click on the General tab
Click configure, click the options tab on the modem properties dialog box
Check the "bring up terminal window after dialing"
Ok both the modem properties and NCS dialer dialog boxes. Go to step 4

If no,

Click on the General tab

Click configure, click the options tab on the modem properties dialog box Check the bring up terminal window after dialing Ok both the modem properties and NCS dialer dialog boxes.
Go to step 4

4. Double click NCS dialer, if connection is through,

Black screen appears

Enter your username and hit the enter key, then
Enter your password and hit the enter key

NB: password will not be visible

If a second password prompt appears, there is a problem with your phone line.
If message backup authentication appears,

Call NCS on 521694/5(24hr support )
If message authentication failed appears
You have been disconnected. Call Finance Dept on 521694/5

Or

There is a problem with your ID on system, Call NCS on 521694/5 (24hr support )
If message reads "Access denied" Call NCS on 521694/5 (24hr support )

If none of the above happens,
A black screen displays a "PPP mode" text on the screen, some text and a string of garbage's is displayed.
PRESS F7 on your keyboard, or click continue button on screen, to connect.

Problem: If dialer keeps verifying a username and password for a long time then
a. Go through steps 1- 4
b. You may have been disconnected

NB: Make sure connection is either manual or automatic
